Journalist and editor Irish Christianne Dizon recently turned to Facebook to let out her sentiments on the changes that were implemented on the rules of movie selection for the entries in the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival 2017.

Dizon publicly wrote on Facebook (in verbatim):

Okay. So nagtagumpay na sina Tito Sotto, Marichu Maceda, and powerful friends. Babalik na sa dati ang Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Official. Alam niyo ba kung bakit nag-improve nang bongga ang walong selection last year? Kasi binago ng 2016 executive committee ang rule. (Thanks Moira Lang, Edward Delos Santos Cabagnot!) Kailangan, FINISHED FILM—BUO AT TAPOS NA PELIKULA—and isu-submit mo kung gusto mong makasali sa #MMFF2017. Hindi RAW SCRIPT na nakasulat lang kung sinong artista ang gaganap.

This year, may kagaguhang HALF FINISHED FILMS, HALF SCRIPTS RULE. Mario Cornejo, director of unforgettable QCinema2015 film Apocalypse Child, puts is clearly: “This is how it’ll work. They’ll choose 4 scripts which will be big films from the major studios. Insert usual suspects. They will later choose 4 finished films. These will be sacrificial lambs pulled from theatres for ‘underperforming.’ This happens every #MMFF. They pull quality films to ensure their blockbusters have majority of the screens/cinema. Theater owners and some producers are bullying our GOVERNMENT film festival into becoming a money making fest for them and their friends.” Oh, dib a? BULLSHIT IS BACK.

It’s f*cking FILM FESTIVAL. WHERE IS THE INTEGRITY IN BASING THE 2017 SELECTION ON SCRIPTS? ANO TO? METRO MANILA SCRIPT FESTIVAL?

Dizon complained about the recent changes in the rules for the selection process of MMFF film entries for this year.

Apparently, there have been changes in the past year regarding the completion of movie scripts as part of MMFF’s requirement in the selection of movie entries.

But for this year, the MMFF screening committee now allows unfinished scripts again. Thus, the disappointment of Dizon and other netizens.
