- Kapamilya actress Angel Locsin visits the evacuees in Marawi amidst crisis
- This is not the first time the actress went to Mindanao to help
The 32-year-old Kapamilya star Angel Locsin went to Iligan City to see the situation of those people affected by the Marawi crisis.
She signed up as a volunteer to personally help the victims of the attack. There has been a clash between the Maute group and the local military, a reason why President Rodrigo Duterte decided to declare Martial Law in Mindanao.
A photo of Angel immersing with the people of Marawi circulated social media.
According to a post by Kathy Yamzon, Bayan NCR secretary general, the actress visited the evacuation center in Ma’had Alnor Al-Islaime, Block 8, Purok 5A, Ceanuri Subdivision in Tomas Cabili yesterday, June 8.
Not the first time
The people from Mindanao are already fond of Angel. Two years ago, the actress made her presence felt by being vocal in protesting the brutal shooting of two Lumad leaders and their civilian companion in Lianga, Surigao del Sur.
Angel went to their place and interacted with the indigenous people.
She also joined in the call to “#StopLumadKillings” in her social media accounts to express her grief and anger.
In 2009, Angel took the opportunity to educate herself on the current situation of civilians affected by the war between the military and the Muslim revolutionary group Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). The young actress, who arrived recently from this three-day exposure trip, said that she and four friends went to Munai Evacuation Center in Lanao del Norte without security detail.
In her Instagram account, Angel describes herself: “Volunteer, Activist, Film & Television Actress”
