Agot Isidro reminds Pres. Rodrigo Duterte to be vaccinated in public; Lualhati Bautista doesn’t care

President Rodrigo Duterte seemed to not be able to make up his mind.

To show gratitude to Russia, he volunteered that he will get the country’s developed vaccine. He then announced that he will do so in public to boost people’s confidence in the government’s immunization drive.

However, in a recent public address, the president changed his mind stating he would be the last to take the vaccine and would prefer that the frontliners such as health workers be the first.

Now, the Palace has announced that the President will get his shots in private, stating that he will be injected in his buttocks.

This led to actress Agot Isidro calling out the president by posting on her Twitter account that Vice President Kamala Harris of the United States has taken her second shot of the vaccine in public.

After Pres. Duterte’s desire to keep his vaccination private, his ‘BFF’ China started using anal swab tests for high-risk people for Covid.

According to the article, the method is used to increase the detection rate of the virus in those infected. It is such a coincidence that the president wanted his shots to be done in his buttocks and his ‘BFF’ conducts anal swab tests.

While the Philippines’ president wants his vaccine shot in private, many world leaders have conducted their inoculation against the virus in plain sight. This is to build public confidence in the vaccines. However, Pres. Duterte has other plans as he resorted to keeping it private, which many Filipinos became suspicious as to why.

Meanwhile, writer and political activist Lualhati Bautista, does not care whether the president gets his vaccine shots in his butt. What Bautista wants is to see Pres. Duterte’s Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth or SALN which he has kept hidden up until now; what happened with the missing 15 billion Philhealth fund which was stolen; the win against China over the West Philippine Sea; and the actual price of the Sinovac vaccine.

At the press conference for All-Out Sundays’ return to live broadcast, senior program manager Ruth Marinas defended the noontime show for having comedy segments.

All-Out Sunday’s showrunners responded to netizens requesting the removal of the comedy segment. According to senior program manager Ruth Mariñas, Comedy is part of the show’s DNA. Additionally, it makes them different from other competing noontime shows in the country.

“Comedy, kasi, we launched AOS with Comedy. Kasi, it’s part of our DNA talaga. And, I think it’s what sets us apart. It makes us different. So may ibang putahe kaming naibibigay,” said Ruth.

Additionally, singer Christian Bautista highlighted that no top Twitter trends show the majority of the opinion of their viewers. He also noted that a lot of their viewers like the segment.

“Wala naman pong mga super laki, or number one or two Twitter trending to tell us, even before to take out that segment. So why is it still here? Because it’s working. Because a lot of people also like the Comedy,” said Christian.

He also added that they respect and appreciate netizens’ opinions, and if needed, they will adjust accordingly.

“We respect, and we appreciate the opinion of the people who (would) prefer na we go back to all musicals and dances. That is perfectly fine. Their opinions matter, and we will adjust accordingly,” said Christian.

He also added that their comedy segments give jobs to their production team and promote inclusivity.

“We are also giving the comedy team jobs. We try to be inclusive as well,” said Christian.

In celebration of their first anniversary on the air, All-Out Sundays returned to live performances with their comedy segments on January 31, 2020. They also kicked off GMA Network’s month-long Kapuso month celebration for February.

Minimal Invasive Surgery, why is it better than open surgery?

Cardinal Santos Medical Center (CSMC) introduced way back in 2013 the method of Minimal Invasive Surgery (MIS). It is the first in the Philippines to have such an advanced technology when it comes to surgeries.

Fast forward to 2021, CSMC have mastered the science of MIS. According to Dr. Alfred Allen Buenafe, an awardee for Contribution to Modern Medicine last September 2020, MIS has many advantages over open surgery.

In a webinar spearheaded by CSMC on Wednesday, January 27, they have stressed that less is better when it comes to surgery. Through their “Why Less is Better: 10 Things to Know about Minimally Invasive Surgery” webinar, they have opened up a path for patients.

Through Laparoscopy, they can treat numerous diseases with a higher success rate. Benign gall bladder diseases, appendectomy, abdominal wall hernia surgery, thyroid surgery, upper gastrointestinal surgery, reflux surgery, and colon and rectal surgery are just some of the operations that can be done using the method. What’s more fascinating is that even cancer surgery is possible through it.

One more reason that MIS is better than open surgery because unlike the latter, MIS only needs a small incision, thus the word minimal. The incision is about 5-10 mm and uses a laparoscope when conducting Laparoscopic surgery. With a minimal incision, CSMC promises that patients who opt-in for MIS could recover faster, with less post-operation pain.

According to Dr. Buenafe, patients who underwent MIS have a recovery span of 24 hours up to a week. This means that patients can return to their normal lives. MIS also manipulates lesser skin tissues than open surgery, which is one of the key factors why they can have a faster recovery rate.

Though MIS is being compared to Robotics surgery, Dr. Buenafe stressed that there is no compelling evidence that robotic surgery is better than laparoscopic. However, one thing is clear: they are better than open surgery.

However, MIS does not come cheap. Still, with the patient being able to return to their normal life is worth it. Plus, there is less scarring because of the surgery. Moreover, it has less post-operation pain. So if people are wondering if their health insurance can cover this kind of method, it is better to ask them since surgeries such as laparoscopic are within the scope of health insurance.

Unfortunately, there is a fear to go to hospitals because of the pandemic. But Dr. Buenafe assured those potential patients that they have confined spaces for covid-positive instances and that every safety precautionary measures were put in place in every corner of the establishment.

Minimal Invasive Surgery is the future and with it, surgeries will now be less painful, less hospital stays, and less loss of income.

Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) will start operations of P4.5-billion Batangas Vehicle Logistics Hub this year.  TMP’s 32-hectare facility is located near Batangas Port, gateway to imported vehicles.

The logistics hub will house a Pre-delivery Inspection and Post Production Installation facility with a capacity 160,000 units per year, and a stockyard that can accommodate a at least 4,500 cars at a time. Similar to its Santa Rosa Vehicle Logistics Center, the new facility will have an 18-truck lane covered car carrier loading and unloading area.  This will ensure the safety and health of its team members, enabling them to operate in any weather condition.  And as a strong advocate of the environment, Toyota will keep 6 hectares of this property as our green area.

“TMP remains committed to supporting the goal of the government to stimulate the economy and to prepare for the eventual resumption of motorization in the country. The auto industry is a key driver of economic activity and an essential part of the drive to increase mobility.  At the heart of the Batangas Vehicle Logistics Hub is our promise of making ever better cars for our customers.  Preserving the quality of our vehicles, from production in various plants all over the world, to delivery dealers and customers, efficient logistics is necessary” expressed TMP President Atsuhiro Okamoto.

The announcement was made amidst government announcements on safeguard duties on imported vehicles.  Toyota Motor Philippines is only one of two companies that sells both locally-made and imported vehicles.  TMP sold over 100,000 units last year, capturing 41% of the market.

Regine Velasquez stands with ABS CBN no matter, leaving the network never occurs to her mind

Just like any other loyal Kapamilya star, Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez, who is in her almost three-year stay as a Kapamilya chooses to stand with ABS CBN, no matter what.  ABS CBN accepted her with wide-open arms, and returning the gesture is an appropriate thing to do.

During the Freedom virtual conference for her February 14 concert, Regine Velasquez had an instant answer when she asked what she considered her most proud moment to be a Kapamilya, over two years since she signed up with ABS-CBN.

“That I’m still here, that despite what happened, ni hindi sumagi sa isip ko na iwan sila.

“Sa akin, tinanggap nila ako with open arms, nang lubos-lubos, tapos kung kailan nila ako kailangan, hindi ako mag-si-stay? Parang weird iyon sa akin.”

Although the Network’s nonrenewal of its franchise did scare her since her career is at stake, she is still delighted to stay.

“I was a little scared of what’s going to happen, kasi siyempre, meron kaming mga responsibilities, may anak kami. I was worried for a time.”

ABS-CBN had to shut down its television and radio operations in 2020 after the congressional panel voted to reject its application for a new broadcast franchise.

Since then, it has moved its content library to a digital platform while forging partnerships with other TV networks—Zoe Broadcasting Network and the recent one with TV5—to bring its programs to a traditional platforms.

Just a few days before the media conference, ASAP Natin ‘To, which Velasquez headlines alongside fellow music veterans, made TV history as it aired for the first time on TV5, joining ABS-digital CBN’s and cable platforms, as well as A2Z.

“I’m happy to be here, despite what’s going on, despite the franchise not being granted,”

Velasquez, a music icon with a career spanning 35 years, was welcomed by ABS-CBN when she officially signed with the Network in October 2018.

Despite the change of Network, the singer’s career has never died down but rather flourished.

Many Filipinos even think that Regine Velasquez is to is considered the Queen of OPM.

For her fans, Velasquez’s title is indisputable, but for her–it’s not the case.

Recently, Velasquez welcomes the idea of being ‘queen’ of Filipino music at a virtual conference for her upcoming digital concert, Freedom.

“I don’t know how it is to be a queen. Although my name means ‘queen,’ I am definitely not a queen. I’m very flattered and grateful for the title that I’m given, but as I said, I am not at all a queen.

“I am far away from being a queen, but I do work hard. I am very, very passionate.”

What matters to the singer is to inspire new stories from her own story as a music veteran. She believes that legacy would far outweigh being given a title or maintaining one’s popularity.

“Right now, hindi na nag-ma-matter sa akin ‘yung, ‘Sikat ka pa ba?’ Ang mas importante sa akin ‘yung nakaka inspire ka ng mga baguhang singers.”

Benjamin Kheng falls head over heels in ‘Fresh Feelings’ ft. R&B artist j.sheon

Singapore — Following his exhilarating debut EP ‘A Sea That Never Stops’, Benjamin Kheng returns with spirited new single ‘Fresh Feelings’ featuring R&B Artist J.Sheon!

‘Fresh Feelings ’is a dizzying look into the thrill of new love. Benjamin delivers his musical vision in a vividly intimate song about delighting in giddy romance and the self-doubt that follows a budding relationship where one is infatuated yet nervous. The lovesick musician questions whether he is out of his romantic interest’s league and illustrates his frenzy through cheeky lyrics in addition to punchy delivery. He contemplates on his passion with rose-tinted glasses for his partner and critical self-reflection, highlighting the contrasting feelings of desire and self-sabotage.

On the collaboration, Benjamin reflects, “Fresh Feelings was a blast to make. Music’s always been a communal experience for me, so it was crazy fun and an honour to write for a choir of some of my favourite Singaporean voices. Having J.Sheon on board was a blessing, that guy is a beast. We only got to speak about the project over texts and video calls, but the energy he brought was insane, and I can’t wait for the chance to perform it live with him.”

J.Sheon wholeheartedly agrees, “When I first listened to Ben’s demo, I was blown away because this was the genre I always wanted to try out. I have never gotten to experiment with more gospel and soulful styles, so this was the perfect project. Although we worked on the song virtually, the collaboration went smoothly and we really connected with each other.”

Building upon his work in ‘A Sea That Never Stops’, the production is daring and wildly theatrical, pulling from Benjamin’s inspirations of gospel choir and musical theatre tradition with glossy piano chords and layered harmonies. Love is clearly the higher power in ‘Fresh Feelings’ where it straddles between charming and clumsy, delicate yet devastating.

‘Fresh Feelings ’thrives in the spiritual joy and earthly struggle of uncertainty in love’s melodrama, capturing the a distinctively nuanced tension of adoration and insecurity. Benjamin offers the perspective of romantic wonder and the possibility of something more, embracing every emotion along the way.

Benjamin proudly admits to wearing his heart on his sleeve and says, “The track is kind of an anti-flex song. It’s about not being afraid to take a knee for a queen, and wilfully surrendering to the feeling about being helplessly in love.”

‘Fresh Feelings’ is available for download on iTunes and streaming on Spotify, KKBOX, and Apple Music on 29 January 2021.

‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’ finalists share their biggest sacrifice for the competition

As the nine singers compete in the much-awaited Tawag ng Tanghalan Grand Finals of It’s Showtime!--set on February 1-6–they share the sacrifices they all made to stay in the competition.

LionHearTV asked the nine aspiring singers’ sacrifices to stay in the competition during its media conference of It’s Showtime! for Tawag ng Tanghalan.

Fighting their way to victory, Nikole Kyle Bernido of Cagayan De Oro City, Emmar Cabilogan of  Leyte, and Rica Mae Maer have something in common on what they sacrificed for Tawag ng Tanghalan.

Missing her family much, the biggest sacrifice that Bernido made is her time with her family, most especially the holiday that she wasn’t able to spend with them, “For me dahil sa pandemic po yungparang di ko po makita yung mama ko di po ako naka pag spend ng christmas and new year kasama yung family ko po dahil gusto ko po talaga tong pangarap na to kaya ko pong i risk lahat para sa pangarap ko po.”

The same goes with Cabilogan; he said that he wasn’t able to spend the New Year’s with his family, who was always supportive of him in his singing career, “Ang sa akin po yung pamilya ko po talaga, katulong ko at kasama ko kahit saan ako kumontest sa probinsya namin. Dito din ako dinatnan ng pasko at new year taga leyte po kase ako eh.”

With Maer, she also shared that she wasn’t able to spend time and holidays with her family, “Ako naman po yung family ko po di ko nakasama sila nung new year, support lang po sila.”

JM Yosures of Taguig City had a different sacrifice from the nine singers. He revealed that as he ventured in Tawag ng Tanghalan, his biggest sacrifice was letting go of his work.

It was a shocker to some of his co-contenders. Even before the semi-finals of the competition, he risked his job even though there was no assurance in being part of the Grand Finals,

“Para sa akin naman po yung sacrifice ko po yung right before semi finals po nag resign na ako sa work ni risk ko po talaga. Hinde ko alam if papasok akong grand finals pero ni risk ko talaga.

“Parang ‘eto na eh andito na rin ako, laban na lang so yun po.”

TNT mothers won’t go missing, Mara Tumale of Malolos, Donna Gift Ricafrente of Sta. Cruz Laguna and Ayegee Paredes of Bukidnon had the same sacrifices, too.

As a mother who joined the competition, Mara’s biggest sacrifice is her time away from her children, “Ang sa akin naman po yung biggest sacrifice na ginawa ko sa Tawag ng Tanghalan ay yung iwanan yung dalawa kong anak sa bahay. na mi miss ko na po sila lalo na po yung bunso ko po na two years old.”

But even being apart from her kids, Mara believes that her children’s support is the greatest blessing that she needs during the competition.

“Pero alam ko naman pong super proud nila sa akin tapos nakikita nila ako sa TV. So para sa akin po yun na yung greatest blessing po na makita silang masaya for their mother po.”

The same goes with Ayegee, who revealed that she only spent six days with her child after returning from abroad and immediately joined Tawag ng Tanghalan.

Meanwhile, Rachell Laylo of Lipa City and Makki Lucino of Sorsogon, spending time with their friends and families–are the things they have sacrificed for the competition.

“Ako po nakasanayan ko po talga na kasama ko yung mga kaibigan ko tsaka yung family ko po that was my first time po in new year na di ko sila kasama tas sila po yung mga kasama ko.”

Makki even misses going out with friends, but he can’t because of the ongoing pandemic with no luck.

“Yung sacrifice ko po yung lock in kase di ka pwedeng lumabas, lahat po kame naka swab kahit yung outside world wala po sa amin yun  focus lang po talga doon sa contest.”

The sacrifices that the nine contenders are making will soon be worth it because winning the Tawag ng Tanghalan is not just a new title. Still, they take home P1 million, a brand new Lessandra house worth P2 million, a recording contract with Star Music, a management contract with Star Magic, and a special trophy designed by Toym.

In the ‘huling tapatan’ the final three contenders will each perform an artist’s medley song in their bid to become the grand champion.

At the end of the day, the grand finalist who will record the highest combined scores of madlang people’s votes and judges’ scores will be named the Grand Champion.

But who among the nine grand finalists will be the fourth Tawag ng Tanghalan Grand Champion to follow in Noven Belleza, Janine Berdin, and Elaine Duran‘s footsteps?

Toyota PH execs optimistic of automotive industry outlook in 2021

After a challenging year that saw the upward momentum of the car industry interrupted by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, automotive leader Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) said it is more than ready to do its part in helping move the country forward this 2021.

Despite the lowering of 2020 sales projections across the automotive sector due to prolonged lockdowns and limitations in physical movements, TMP has reported several bright spots indicating industry resilience and showing promise of recovery.

“Even though the past year has been challenging, the market has shown incredible resilience and was able to achieve 242,000 in sales,” said TMP President Atsuhiro Okamoto. “That being said, I am pleased to announce that TMP was able to achieve 100,019 unit sales in 2020, with an expanded share of the market at 41.3%,” he added.

TMP Chairman Alfred Ty shared this optimism, citing efforts from the government and industry partners all contributing to improvements in market conditions and overall environment for both businesses and the consumers.

“While the automotive industry as a whole may have seen challenging sales at the onset of the pandemic, we also saw gradual growth from the lowest point in May. We expect this increase to continue as Filipinos ease back into their daily routines and resume pursuing the life goals that had to take a backseat in 2020,” said Ty.

Signs of Progress

Ty is positive that currently, economy is improving, and that businesses will recover in due time.

“Every week there are new developments regarding a COVID-19 vaccine and while this may not be the be-all and end-all solution to this pandemic, it is a welcome development and a sign that progress is happening earlier than expected,” said Ty.

“Also on the brighter side of things, the “Build, Build, Build” project of the government and the private sector is coming into fruition. We commend the continuous construction of these new roads and highways which will enable economic recovery efforts and bring more joy to driving,” Ty added.

Crucial Government Support

TMP’s top executives also welcomed recent pronouncements by Board of Investments (BOI) officials regarding the possibility of extending the Comprehensive Automotive Resurgence Strategy (CARS) Program in consideration of the impact of the pandemic on car manufacturing and sales.

“We thank the government for considering the extension of the CARS Program. This is very crucial for the existence of local production not only for the existing players but also in attracting additional investment in the industry. In this business of the automotive industry, where the market is still at a growing stage and lower-priced vehicles dominate new cars sold, the key to survival is volume. Economies of Scale is much needed to make investments sustainable, whether a Completely Built-Up (CBU) or Completely Knocked Down (CKD) player, or both.” said Ty.

Balancing Act

Speaking about the healthy balance of TMP’s CBU and CKD business, TMP President Okamoto also addressed the most recent issue to affect not just car companies but also the entire supply chain of the local car manufacturing sector. Okamoto emphasizes TMP’s position as a major player for both CBU and CKD operations.

“With the recent announcement of Safeguard duties, market recovery will be adversely affected and growth may be much more limited, as early as when provisional duties are implemented.

As you know, however, TMP operates on the basis of a combination of locally-produced and imported vehicles. We will maximize efforts to promote sales of our Vios and Innova to cushion the impact of safeguard duties. We are counting on the support of Filipinos to BUY FILIPINO,” said Okamoto.

Toyota’s vast and diverse line-up of vehicles is mostly composed of imported CBU models, but TMP is optimistic of the opportunity that can open for its locally-manufactured vehicles – the Vios and Innova.

“We are thankful for the government’s initiative to promote local production. However, the automotive industry is driven by volume and motivated by a wide range of choices. A mix of imported CBU models will still be needed to be able to meet the mobility needs of the country. We are confident that we will find ways to move forward as we have always done. Together with the government, we are excited to work towards realizing our vision of providing mobility for all,” Okamoto added.

Mobility For All

In the end, TMP believes that as the largest mobility company in the Philippines, it has the responsibility to help push the local automotive industry forward, and steer the country towards economic recovery.

Citing a statement from Toyota Motor Corporation President Akio Toyoda, TMP Chairman Ty stressed the automotive industry’s role as backbone of every country’s economy.

“The automotive industry provides mobility for all of us. And when we talk of the automotive industry, this does not only cover vehicle production and sales, but it includes parts, logistics, and public transportation,” said Ty.

“Mobility brings us a new wind, a change in landscape and, most importantly, it brings us closer to tomorrow. This 2021, I hope we can continue to support each other as we brave the challenges and seize the opportunities the new year will bring,” Ty added.

Ogie Diaz believes that there’s truth in the Julia Barretto-Gerald Anderson ‘dating rumors’

Talent manager and broadcaster Ogie Diaz’s hunch on the Julia Barretto and Gerald Anderson controversial and ‘rumored’ relationship is real.

On Aiko Melendez‘s YouTube vlog, Ogie had the chance to express his thoughts and opinions on the dating rumors of actor Anderson and actress Barretto.

Melendez had aTruth or Dare’ challenge for her vlog with her guest, Diaz.

Aiko then asked Ogie, “naniniwala ka ba na ang boyfriend na tinutukoy ni Julia Barretto sa kanyang mga post ay si Gerald Anderson. Naniniwala ka bang sila ang mag jowa, huh? ”

No holds barred, Ogie answered, “Ako naniniwala. Truth.”

“Sakin lang toh, kasi pinili ko yung truth so sasabihin ko yung totoo, yung feeling ko. So feeling ko si Gerald at si Julia na. Kasi maraming mga pa totoo.”

Ogie is one with what Netizens felt on social media, he thinks there is truth, somehow on the cryptic posts of both stars.

“So feeling ko lang sa mga naglalabasan katulad ng mga kamay na balbon, hindi pinapakita kasi sa mga shot. Tapos kamay ni Julia hindi pinapakita sa, I mean pinapakita yung kamay pero hindi yung mukha. So parang pinag tagpi tagpi yun ng mga netizen.”

Ogie also feels that both Gerald and Julia are always together. He even believes that the family of Barretto already went to Gerald’s resort in Zambales.

“So magkasama sila palage. So feeling ko… pumunta na din yung pamilya ni Julia Barretto dun sa resort, sa Zambales, ni ano ni Gerald diba…. So naniniwala ako na sila na.”

Ogie Diaz’s hunch is not baseless. For the past months, Julia Barretto and Gerald Anderson have made abuzz on social media platforms where Netizens believe the two are [indeed] together.

In mid-2019, Barretto became a talk-of-the-town after her alleged involvement in Bea Alonzo’s controversial breakup with Gerald Anderson.

Rumors on Julia and Gerald are dating, but both are still silent about it.

In December last year, eagle-eyed Netizens noticed that Julia was wearing a necklace with a “G” pendant. Others claimed that she and Gerald were walking together at Mt. Kulis in Tanay, Rizal. The speculation came about via the pictures posted on both their social media accounts.

Recently, Barretto has allegedly visited the fan account of Alonzo, Anderson’s ex-gf and Dominique Roque (the latter is rumored as the new boyfriend of Bea Alonzo).

REVIEW: New Idol Group BGYO Officially Enters P-POP’s Area of Responsibility with Debut Single ‘The Light’

To say that BGYO’s debut single, The Light, caused massive storm surges definitely makes sense—figuratively speaking, that is. But storm signals might as well be raised, as the newest idol group now seems poised to take P-Pop fans by storm, for while their launching single may have the feels of a bright summer, the impact it unleashes resembles that of a powerful storm.

Marking the group’s official launch as BGYO (they first assumed the name ‘SHA Boys’), ‘The Light’ sounds the perfect choice to represent the idol group’s aspirations, as it forays into the exploding P-Pop world, whose surging popularity may ultimately lead to a new era of Philippine music, one that would finally put OPM on the global charts.

Taking cues from the traditional K-Pop beats, ‘The Light’ incorporates electronic dance, club, rap, and trap elements into one energy-infused track. This choice may not be unique to Filipino music, but the highly-contagious verve of the song, somewhat makes it fresh and unique, not to mention its lyrics that sound like an entirely different character, granting the song a better capacity to grasp its listeners’ attention.

Written by the BGYO members (Nate, Gelo, Mikki, JL, and Akira) themselves, alongside Distract and composed and arranged by Rogan and Ddank, the song speaks of hope, determination, passion, self-love, and dreams, perfectly conveying the group’s desire to break through, amidst our current struggles. Be the Light urges its listeners to start something, to light up for someone else who may be in a darker place. It’s a hopeful song that inspires, and encourages, but carried out and delivered through its vivid, energetic, and clubby beats.

The years of training the group went through are showcased in the official music video released during the launch. BGYO has made remarkable performances on various Kapamilya shows already, but the tracks the group performed are mostly covers of popular OPM songs and K-Pop hits. In the music video, the group finally bannered their synchronization, dancing skills, and vocals, using their own song, thrusting their overwhelming talent to attention, and making them the main attraction of the music video. The music video explodes between gloomy and vibrant colors, shifting from each member’s solo shot to the synergy and choreographic movements of the group as they dance to the beats of the song. The mv itself, is a visual treat, that both fans and fans-to-be, will definitely be hooked on.

The lyrics are mostly written in English, but the trendy Tagalog chorus is definitely spot-on. This choice allows the song to appeal to international audiences which may likely expedite the group’s foray into the global stage. For a debut single, ‘The Light’ is definitely a hook-song, and if succeeding singles from the group will be in its mold, then that won’t cause too much problem, although it’s always wise to come up with an album that showcases the group’s versatility, and I believe that will be the case for BGYO.

That being said, BGYO has definitely made its presence felt with ‘The Light’. There is no doubt that it has officially entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility—if you know, what I mean.

A Tale of a Thousand Stars

GMMTV | iWantTFC

Actors: Mix Sahaphap Wongratch, Earth Pirapat Watthanasetsiri

Format/Genre: Web series/Boys’ love

Premise: A man searches for the owner of his new heart which previously belonged to a woman, and tries to live her life, fulfill her dreams, and her promises to the love of her life.

Watch it on: GMMTV’s Youtube account and iWantTFC

Why You Should See It:

GMMTV makes a gentle detour from its boys’ love series’ usual light and breezy feel with A Tale of A Thousand Stars’ deeply moving and compellingly poignant tone, and while it doesn’t lose the genre’s inherent airiness, this potent exercise presents some refreshing and wonderful developments, in the context of boys’ love dramas.

One of the year’s most anticipated Thai boys’ love series, ‘A Tale of A Thousand Stars’ is a beautiful departure from most of GMMTV’s previous BL offerings, whose cheesy and charming plotlines are often intended for young and teenybopper audiences. That is not to say this poignant drama won’t find smitten audiences with the said demographic, but the lachrymose, and sometimes, thought-provoking plot of ‘A Tale and A Thousand Stars’ naturally attracts hopeless romantics—or anyone with keen affinity to idealistic romance, for that matter.

In the series, the volunteer village teacher, Torfun, dies in a tragic car accident. On the other side of the city, a privileged rich kid, Tian, parties, and gambles until his losing streak leads him to a car race, one that would endanger his life. Born with a weak heart, Tian finds himself about to cross the afterlife, only to be interrupted by a mysterious woman in his dreams, who turns out to be Torfun, whose heart now beats inside his body. Determined to learn who his donor is, and how she lived her life, Tian embarks on a mission to live Torfun’s life, her aspirations, and motivations, guided by the diary she left behind. The mission leads him to Forest Officer Phupa, Torfun’s boyfriend, with whom she made a promise to count a thousand stars.

Tian’s arrival to the remote village, however, is initially received coldly by Phupa, who still grieves Torfun’s demise. Succeeding episodes are yet to establish the two men’s chemistry, but it’s definitely hard to contain excitement for where their romantic narrative would lead, or would it follow the original web novel, authored by Thai web novelist, Bacteria.

It should also delight boys’ love lovers that this new Thai romance is not set at a school, or predominantly urban landscape, as the events in ‘A Tale of a Thousand Stars’ develops in the rural countryside of Chiang Mai. This somewhat helps Bacteria’s beautiful script to possess better affection and power, as the green and exquisite imageries of the popular Thai region, enforces the mix of a breezy and poignant tale in which Earth’s and Mix’s characters are made to play. A Tale of a Thousand Stars captures the essence of its emotional story, through its equally sentimental setting, which perfectly complements the prevailing mood of Barcteria’s narrative.

The two actors, Mix and Earth, are compelling enough to deliver electrifying performances, even as early as the pilot episode. As predicted, the Tagalog-subbed pilot episode presented to the local audiences by iWantTFC, tends to lose the emotional essence of Phupa and Tian, as star-crossed lovers, hence, making the English-subbed and original version, a more preferred version. The ABS-CBN-owned streaming service, however, also offers the original Thai version, which gives local viewers ease to access the episodes.

A Tale of a Thousand Stars releases a new episode every Friday, on GMMTV’s Youtube Channel, while streaming service iWantTFC provides access for local audiences. Watch the iWantTFC trailer, below:

Actress KC Concepcion took to social media to express her gratitude towards the Kapuso network. She thanked the network after she was featured as a solo entrepreneur with her jewelry business.

KC has been posting on her Instagram account her venture as a solo entrepreneur with her jewelry business. She recently posted about her business where she mentioned that managing a business is not an easy feat.

“The entrepreneur life is NOT easy, it requires lots of faith, multitasking, long hours, problem solving, creativity, attention to detail AND the big picture, listening to customers, an open mind, a grateful heart, a fighter’s spirit and a monk’s patience,”

“Also, passion and practicality, how to balance both is the challenge,” she wrote in the captions.

She also mentioned that as a solo entrepreneur, she carries the workload of at least 10 people.

“I do the job of 10 people for this 2 year old [business] of mine (not counting 2020),” she said.

Shortly after her Instagram post, KC’s story was featured in one of GMA Network’s articles. The actress thanked the network for recognizing her hard work and mentioned that with her business, she was able to help other people as well.

“Thank you @gmanetwork and Ms. Cara Emmeline Garcia 🌹 @avecmoijewelry, and our fellow jewelry lovers who purchased our pieces, were indeed able to provide immediate relief to survivors of the most recent typhoons,” she wrote in an Instagram post.

The 35-year-old actress also reminded the people of the safety protocols of the pandemic saying, “Let’s learn (and relearn) the safety precautions the government has put in place for us, so we can take care of each other.”

Meanwhile, there have been speculations that KC will return to the Kapuso channel.

The rumors of her return to GMA Network started after she posted a clip on her Instagram account which shows her special guesting on GMA Network’s Amazing Earth alongside host Dingdong Dantes.

KC’s appearance marks her first time in a GMA Network show where she shared the newfound skills she acquired during the quarantine period.

KC had been on hiatus from the showbiz industry for more than six years, with her last project dating back to 2014 with the Kapamilya teleserye Ikaw Lamang.

During the press conference for All-Out Sundays‘ return to live broadcast, cast members Miguel Tanfelix, Kyline Alcantara, and Glaiza De Castro revealed why they are the number one noontime show in the country.

Firstly, Miguel highlighted four reasons he thinks All-Out Sundays reached the number one spot in ratings on its first year on the air.

Miguel said that they have good collaboration, allow creative freedom, support each another, and enjoy their performance on stage.

“First, Collaboration with the prod Kung ano yung gusto naming i-express sa sarili namin.”

“Very free kaming gumalaw, sa stage na yun.”

“(The) third is, yung environment namin very supportive.”

“Fourth is, all-out kami, kasi ine-enjoy lang namin yung every performance namin,” said Miguel.

He also added that the fans of the noontime show helped them reach the number one spot.

“Siguro di po kami magiging number one kung di po dahil sa mga loyal na humahanga po sa All-Out Sundays,” said Miguel.

Kyline, on the other hand, added that they became number one because they go all-out on every performance.

“And from our title, All-Out Sundays, Ang All-Out Sundays po kasi lahat po kami dito all-out sa lahat. All-out kantahahan, all-out sayawan, all-out performances, all-out iyakan,” said Kyline.

Finally, Glaiza highlighted that their mindset led to the success of the show. It gave them loyal viewers and high ratings.

“I think when in you’re in the right perspective, pag tama rin yung mindset mo, everything else will follow. So I think kaya rin kami nare-rewardan ng magandang ratings, ng loyal viewers, kasi from the very beginning, nasa tama po kaming mindset,” said Glaiza.

In celebration of their first anniversary on the air, All-Out Sundays returned to live performances this January 31, 2020. They also kicked off GMA7’s month-long Kapuso month celebration for February.

GMA News TV

Actors: Lexi Fernandez, Kim de Leon, Rodjun Cruz, Divine, Mike Liwag, Maey Bautista

Format/Genre: Drama Anthology/Fantasy Romance

Premise: A cupid is sent to the world of mortals to fulfill a mission, only to fall for a human

Time slot: Saturdays, 7:30 PM

Why You Should See It:

New Kapuso love team KimLEX is the perfect pair for My Fantastic Pag-ibig’s debut story, which will surely leave viewers spellbound for its fantasy-tinged light, funny, and breezy love story,

The Kapuso Network amps up its investment in experimental team-ups whom they seemingly hope to break through and become the network’s next big love teams. This year, it sets its eyes upon budding stars, Kim de Leon and Lexi Fernandez. Interestingly, the choice to air their launching series on GMA-7’s sister channel, GMA News TV looks like a strategic choice to take some “excess” viewers off the main channel, and direct their attention to GMA News TV’s new offerings. One of these offerings, is the fantasy romance drama anthology, My Fantastic Pag-ibig

In My Fantastic Pag-ibig’s first offering, Love Wars, Pido (Kim de Leon) is sent to Earth to prevent a dating app from taking over their roles as Cupids. A premonition is foreseen which suggests that the future will be filled with broken hearts because of the rise of dating apps like Match Maker, developed by newbie app developer Lovelyn (Lexi Gonzales). The mission, however, is threatened to fail, as Pido, finds himself getting attracted to the very girl he is tasked to stop.

Both alumni of the seventh season of GMA Network’s artista search, StarStruck, Fernandez’s, and de Leon’s team-up feels destined to happen. There is brimming chemistry between the two, and both of them project beautifully when put together on the same frame. The usual plots of My Fantastic Pag-ibig stories are promised to carry light and airy tones, and while ‘Love Wars’ adheres to this design, the endearing rapport Fernandez and de Leon are establishing seems to be a much-needed enhancement for audiences to follow the drama anthology’s maiden mini-series.

There are interesting turns that viewers will surely look forward to in the series, like will Pido succeed at stopping Match Maker, or will he fail and falls for Lovelyn, instead? The possibility of the latter is sure to get the fans screaming in ‘kilig’.

My Fantastic Pag-Ibig airs every Saturday on GMA News TV. Watch the official teaser below:

Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid has once again set made OPM history as she and her team broke the record of VIP ticket sales for her Freedom Digital Concert.

Excited fans of Asia’s Songbird went into a frenzy online upon the announcement of Regine’s digital concert. According to reports, 10 minutes after the tickets went on sale, Regine’s concert sold 500 thousand pesos worth of tickets online.

After that feat, they sold out the VIP slots in 12 hours and managed to reach one million pesos in ticket sales.

A reporter asked her about the record-breaking ticket sales. Regine replied, saying that she initially felt nervous about the success of Freedom. She thought that it might not have a lot of patronage because of her digital concerts last year.

Regine was ecstatic upon finding out about the record-breaking ticket sales. Regine then highlighted that she felt grateful because of the support of her fans.

“Kinabahan ako for this concert, dahil nga ang dami kong ginawa last year. So maraming lumabas. Kaya tuwang tuwa ako nung malaman kong nagsold out agad yung VIP tickets namin,” said Regine.

As for her sold-out VIP tickets, she confirmed that their team added a meet-and-greet perk via zoom. It serves as a premium for those who purchased them online.

“First time! We wanted to give a premium naman for the VIP ticket holders. So we decided to do a meet and greet,” said Regine.

Produced by ABS-CBN Events, IME, and PLDT and directed by Paolo Valenciano, with musical direction from Raul Mitra, ‘Freedom’ Digital Concert streams on Feb. 14, 2020 (8:00 p.m., Manila time.)

Even with VIP tickets sold out, general admission slots are available at Php 1,200 (24.99 USD) via ktx.ph and will soon be available on iWantTFC.

Poll Survey says 8 Out of 10 Filipinos want ABS-CBN back

A majority or eight out of ten Filipinos are in favor of ABS-CBN’s return on television and radio, according to a recent mobile-app survey reported in the Manila Bulletin last Saturday, (January 30).

Asked if they are in favor of ABS CBN resuming its broadcast operations, eight in every 10 respondents told data analytics firm WR Numero they support this, while only 11 percent opposed, and eight percent were uncertain.

Manila Bulletin reported that the research firm conducted the nationwide survey from January 11 to 15 with 5,000 respondents via a quota sampling method based on geographic location, age, sex, and income

The objective was to gauge the level of support among Filipinos for ABS-CBN’s return on air as talks on the network’s franchise were ignited again with new bills seeking its renewal being filed. Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto sponsored the bill in the Senate, while Rep. Vilma Santos-Recto and Rep. Edcel Lagman sponsored the new bills in the House of Representatives.

Back in May 2020, the said technology-driven polling and data analytics company also conducted a survey wherein 80% of Filipinos believed that the network should continue to operate.

Similarly, a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey last July 2020 also showed that 75 percent of Filipinos agree that ABS-CBN should be granted with a new 25-year franchise. For this July 3 to July 6 survey, SWS had 1,555 respondents from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Meanwhile, despite the absence of a franchise, ABS-CBN continues to produce new and existing content which it distributes in its own cable and digital platforms, as well as in other networks such as A2Z channel and TV5.

It also remains a favorite among award-giving bodies. In January, it received the “Natatanging Hiyas ng SIning sa Telebisiyon,” the highest honor for TV given in the 5th GEMS Awards and its fifth straight Platinum Brand Award from the Reader’s Digest Trusted Brands.

Winners of GEMS Awards are selected by members of the Guild of Educators, Mentors, and Students, while the Reader’s Digest Trusted Brand Awards is voted by consumers through a survey that looks into the trustworthiness, credibility, quality, value, understanding of consumer needs, innovation, and social responsibility of brands.

Alden Richards recalls being threatened by his adviser to enter his first-ever competition

During a virtual conference for the upcoming return of GMA Network’s reality singing competition for kids, Centerstage, host Alden Richards shared how he started his journey to stardom.

According to Alden, he wouldn’t be the Alden Richards that we know of if not because of his adviser during his second year in high school.

Apparently, the celebrity host was forced by his adviser to enter the Mr. and Ms.Intramurals 2006 at his school. He was even threatened that his grades will be at risk if he refused. That is why he agreed to be a contestant.

“Actually ang pinakauna ko talagang competition is when I was in second year high school. Pinilit lang ako ng adviser ko to join. Kasi kapag hindi hindi ako sumali, eh put at risk daw ang grades ko sa kanya. So parang I didn’t have a choice,” said Alden.

However, he was thankful for his adviser. Alden believed that his adviser pushed him to come out of his comfort zone. With him winning said pageant, he was able to gain confidence. Fast forward to this day, the actor is now one of the most successful individuals in the industry.

“But I’m grateful for that experience kasi yun ang nag-open sa akin na talagang to really have confidence sa pagsali, to believe in yourself. And sa awa naman ng Diyos, nanalo naman tayo. So sometimes kailangan mo ng mga tamang tao para magpush sa’yo to do better. You know, to find your inner confidence para malaman mo sa sarili mo na worth it ka pala,” added the actor.

Watch out for Alden Richards as he hosts, together with Betong Sumaya, the returning Centerstage this February 7. Pops Fernandez, Aicelle Santos, and Mel Villena will be the show’s judges. What’s more exciting is that on February 28, the network is about to make a “grand reveal” for the show, so stay tuned.

Uplifting the Filipino spirit every week: ‘KMJS’ is still the country’s number 1 program

With stories that continue to inspire during a most challenging year, the Filipinos’ Sunday viewing habit—Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (KMJS)—is also the number 1 TV program based on Nielsen Phils.’ NUTAM Ratings for 2020.

This is the second year in a row that KMJS topped the nationwide urban ratings with an average People rating of 20.6 percent from January to December 2020.

The program’s online videos have 1.7 billion views.

Its official Facebook Page has 21 million followers.

KMJS and its topics also trend on Twitter, weekly.

But more than these metrics, KMJS is most proud of helping uplift the Filipino spirit during this pandemic – through stories that showcased the heroism and generosity of our health workers, frontliners, and ordinary Filipinos doing their best to survive while helping others too.

At the onset of the community quarantine, KMJS was one of the few local television programs that immediately aired fresh episodes to provide relevant information on COVID-19 and its effects on the lives of Filipinos here, and abroad.

Every week since June last year, the program has been extending ayuda or financial help to viewers in need. KMJS stories about Filipinos going through very tough times have also generated substantial donations that go directly to those in need.

“2020 may have been a most difficult year but it has also been a most remarkable one,” Jessica Soho, the program’s host and GMA News and Public Affairs pillar said.

“We saw the best in us during this crisis. It is a privilege to share the stories of Filipinos who shine through during this darkest of times. Our heartfelt thanks to our viewers who have made us their favorite kakuwentuhan and weekly family bonding time.”

KMJS is the longest running news magazine program in the country.

It was recently elevated to the Hall of Fame by the Catholic Mass Media Awards.

It has also won a Peabody award and a Bronze Medal in the New York International Film and TV Awards.

For the third consecutive year, it has also been judged Philippine National Winner in Infotainment category by the Asian Academy Creative Awards in 2020.
